Bright, punchy, and vibrant, Lisa Curtis is ultra-talented.

Nineteen year old, singer/songwriter is making her mark on the music scene with over 70k monthly listeners on Spotify. Lisa recently opened for Claire Rosinkranz, the singer behind the viral song “Backyard Boy”, a song that brings us back to whipped coffee and the start of fame for the D’Amelio sisters. After Lisa’s set at A&R Music bar I sat down with her and asked her about her inspirations, her start into the music scene and other questions about her growing career in music.

Curtis is a performer by nature, both her mom and dad were involved in the music scene and inspired Lisa to do the same. Lisa’s music is influenced by early Demi Lovato, one of the greats Stevie Nicks, Kelly Clarkson, and Phoebe Bridgers. All are very evident in her releases. With the soft breathiness in songs like “Won’t Ask You To Stay,” and “Never Gave Up,” you can see Phoebe Bridger's inspiration. Her overall melodic qualities and musicality in many of her songs pay mind to Fleetwood Mac. New releases like “No Rest” give the same energy as Demi Lovato’s and Kelly Clarkson’s popular hits. Keep eyes out for “Familiar” an upcoming release on Spotify, Curtis enjoys being able to put her heart and soul into this one on stage. She debuted this new song at A&R Music Bar, and it was received well by the crowd, swaying and bobbing heads to her incredible vocals. Lisa’s pre show traditions include going to the gym, getting Starbucks, and doing vocal warmups. She says that going to the gym reminds her what it feels like on stage to have her heart racing and is crucial to her pre show routine.

Lisa Curtis is one to watch out for. Her strong and vibrant presence both in her music and on stage bode very well for this budding artist’s career. It is very evident that she’s very passionate and dedicated to her craft. With many new releases in the works…keep an eye on her Spotify and for any upcoming shows.
