Rain City Drive

Back in 2020, when everyone thought the world had stopped permanently, many people, me included, turned to music. During this time, I stumbled upon Rain City Drive’s-formerly Slaves-album To Better Days. This was the inaugural album under lead singer Matt McAndrew after parting ways with Johnny Craig and brought a different yet familiar sound to fans new and old.

On July 15th, 2022, the band released their self-titled album Rain City Drive under their rebranded name. Top hits like “Blood Runs Cold”, “Cutting It Close”, and “Waiting on You” reinforced the powerhouse vocals McAndrew brings to the table. Almost one year later, the band, under Thriller Records, released a Rain City Drive Deluxe album that features six of their favorite songs reimagined: “Blood Runs Cold”, “Waiting on You” and “Psycho” from the RCD album and “Bury a Lie” and “Talk to a Friend” from their To Better Days album.

The reimagined songs bring a distinct sound to the album and veer away from their heavier rock influence, leaning into a more pop/R&B sound. From synth waves to piano sounds, each lends itself to the versatility of the band and highlights the impressive vocal range of McAndrew. The new compilations bring out the soulful and heartful meaning behind the lyrics that allow the listener to really feel the music. As with many fans, this album gets me excited for what the band will bring out next!
